Electrical Safety Warnings
This section describes safety precautions for the electrical connections and fuses of the iScanDx Instrument and describes high-voltage hazards and precautions. For more information on power and electrical specifications for the iScanDx, refer to the Site Preparation section.
Electrical Connections
Connect the instrument to a grounded circuit capable of delivering at least:
• | 6 Amps for a 100–120 Volt power source |
• | 3 Amps for a 200–240 Volt power source |
Refer to the rating label on the iScanDx Instrument for more information.
Data Connections
The iScanDx Reader has the following two connections to the controlling computer:
• | The USB bus that transfers commands and control information between the iScanDx Reader and the computer. This connection uses a standard USB type A connector cable. |
• | A standard Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) CameraLink connection that transfers raw data from the iScanDx Reader to the computer. This connection uses a standard CameraLink Cable. |
Protective Earth
|
The instrument has a connection to protective earth through the enclosure. The safety ground on the power cord returns protective earth to a safe reference. The protective earth connection on the power cord must be in good working condition when using this device. |
Fuses
The instrument contains no user-replaceable fuses. Only Illumina Field Service Engineers can replace the internal fuses.
The Power Entry Module (PEM) includes two input fuses on the high-voltage input lines. These fuses are size 5x20 and rated 3.15 Amps, 250 VAC, fast blow. These fuses are mounted in fuse holders placed on the board and marked F1 and F2.
High-Voltage Hazard Precautions

Do not remove the main cover of the iScanDx Reader. There are no user-serviceable components inside, and you can be exposed to laser light and high-voltage hazards. |
