Network Considerations

The NextSeq 1000/2000 Sequencing System is designed for use with a network. The NextSeq 1000/2000 control computer runs Linux with SELinux enabled. The NextSeq 1000/2000 does not support encryption being enabled.

Performing a run in manual mode requires a network connection to transfer run data to a network storage location. Illumina recommends saving run data to an external or network drive. The local hard drive on the NextSeq 1000/2000 Sequencing System is intended for temporary storage before data is transferred automatically.

An internet connection is required for the following operations:

Upload instrument performance data for Illumina Proactive Support (refer to Illumina Proactive Technical Note (document # 1000000052503).
[Optional] Remote assistance from Illumina Technical Support.

Security and Networking

It is recommended that you review the Product Security Portal to keep your instrument secure. These best practices include, for example, enabling firewalls and using appropriate account settings.
