Shut Down or Restart the Instrument

You can shut down or restart the instrument safely when there are no sequencing runs or secondary analyses in progress. Software messages indicate when to shut down and restart the instrument to resolve an error or warning. If the system does not shut down, contact Illumina Technical Support.

Shut Down the Instrument

1.

Select the instrument icon to open the global navigation menu.

2.

Select Settings, and then select Shut down.

3.

When prompted, select Yes, shut down instrument.

To prevent corruption of the CE, do not use the toggle switch on the back of the instrument unless instructed by Illumina Technical Support.

4.

After shutting down the instrument, wait ~15 minutes before starting the instrument with the power button. When the power button pulses, press it.

Restart the Instrument

1.

Select the instrument icon to open the global navigation menu.

2.

Select Settings, and then select Restart instrument.

3.

When prompted, select Yes, restart.

The instrument restart takes ~45 minutes.

4.

After the restart completes and the operating system loads, sign into the system.

Extended Shutdown

If you are shutting down the instrument for 14 days or more, prepare for an extended shutdown as follows.

1.

After the post-run wash completes, do not remove the sequencing consumables, including the used flow cell and reagent cartridge.

2.

Remove and discard waste. For instructions, refer to Empty Used Reagent Bottles.

3.

[Optional] Shut down the instrument. For instructions, refer to Shut Down the Instrument.

4.

Before sequencing again, make sure to perform a maintenance wash. For instructions, refer to Perform a Maintenance Wash.
