Specimen Transport and Storage

Handle all samples as if they are potentially infectious agents.

Transportation of samples must comply with all applicable governing regulations for the transport of etiologic agents. Expedited shipping and transportation methods are recommended.
Transport blood-derived specimens on dry ice. After samples are received, store at -80°C until ready to use.
If retesting is required, you can cap unused samples and store at -80°C for future use.

Up to three freeze-thaw cycles are permitted. Avoid extended thaw time (2 hours maximum).

Exposure to elevated temperatures can negatively impact individual sample failure rates and sample performance.
