Specimen Transport and Storage
Handle all samples as if they are potentially infectious agents.
| • | Transportation of samples must comply with all applicable governing regulations for the transport of etiologic agents. Expedited shipping and transportation methods are recommended. |
| • | Transport blood-derived specimens on dry ice. After samples are received, store at -80°C until ready to use. |
| • | If retesting is required, you can cap unused samples and store at -80°C for future use. |
Up to three freeze-thaw cycles are permitted. Avoid extended thaw time (2 hours maximum).
Exposure to elevated temperatures can negatively impact individual sample failure rates and sample performance.
