Initiate Operation
Make sure that all verifications for daily morning maintenance are complete before initiating operations. For more information, refer to Maintenance.
Initiate operation of the IAPS with ILASS instrument via ILASS as follows.
1. | Turn on the instrument control computer. |
Make sure that the front safety door is closed and the dual bracket (A/B) barcode scanner on the RoMa is firmly locked in position B before powering on the instrument.
2. | Press the power button on the IAPS with ILASS for half a second. |
Wait for the status light on the On button to illuminate, confirming that the instrument is active.
3. | Make sure that the water circulator is on and in Standby mode. |
4. | If the water circulator is not on, set the power switch on the back panel to the on (I) position. |
The water circulator must always be on and in Standby mode. Turn off the water circulator only when the system and control computer are turned off for an extended period of time. During intialization, the system detects that the circulator is on. If it is not on, initialization errors can occur.
5. | Enter the user name and password for the instrument control computer. |
Administrator privileges are required for any automation related activities. The sbsadmin account must be used instead of the sbsuser account.
6. | From the instrument control computer desktop, open ILASS. |
7. | If prompted, log in to ILASS using the ILASS user account. |
For more information, refer to Illumina Lab Automation Software Solution Product Documentation (document # 200015136).
8. | Enter the user name and password for ILASS. |
The ILASS home page displays.
9. | Use ILASS to complete tasks, including initiating a workflow step. |
Refer to the Illumina Lab Automation Software Solution Product Documentation (document # 200015136) and the workflow-specific ILASS app documentation for more information.
After initiating instrument operation, you can pause activity at any point, except during a timed incubation step, by selecting Pause in the ILASS. The instrument only pauses after completing the current step. Avoid using the IAPS with ILASS instrument Pause button to pause runs as it might lead to errors. For more information, refer to Power and Pause Buttons.
The RoMa and PosID3 scanners rely on accurate scanning and tracking of items positioned on the worktable to execute a workflow or run. After the scanners have scanned items for a run, do not remove or move them from their scanned positions on the worktable before or during the run. Otherwise, instrument or workflow errors can occur.
