Perform Liquid System Flush

The liquid system flush removes air bubbles from the liquid lines and makes sure that the entire system is fully primed with system liquid. Perform a flush of the liquid system in the following situations:

At the beginning of the day before the first run
During daily maintenance of the instrument
If the instrument has been idle for more than two hours, then perform flushes between workflow steps

If you do not perform a flush, inaccurate pipetting results can occur.

You can start the System Flush Tip Wash manually from ILASS whenever the system is idle. ILASS continually monitors when a system flush occurs.

If necessary, the software automatically performs a system flush before the start of a workflow. The automatic flush is performed only if it has been more than two hours since the previous flush, and a manual flush was not performed.

During the first system flush of the day, and when the flush expires thereafter, the flush cycle runs twice automatically when executed either manually or automatically. After the first system flush, manual flushes run only one time per execution. An ILASS system flush can be performed manually during the day, before a run, and between runs. The two-hour timer resets after any flush occurs.

Perform the ILASS system flush as follows.

1. Make sure that the system liquid carboy contains enough system liquid for the upcoming runs and that the liquid waste container is empty.
2. Launch and sign into the ILASS application using the appropriate user name and password.
3. Make sure that the front safety door is closed.
4. From the ILASS software home page, select Infinium Maintenance Procedures.
5. Navigate to System Flush Tip Wash and select Start.
6. Follow the prompts to execute the run.
Observe the system flush watching for any leaks or air bubbles in the diluter syringes and tubing.
Make sure the waste liquid flows freely into the waste carboy and does not back up.
Check for kinked tubing and a full waste carboy to avoid issues.
7. If air bubbles persist, repeat steps 46 and as necessary after selecting Continue and Home, until the bubbles are removed.
